About
The North Sound

The North Sound creates music with meaning—rooted in tradition, shaped by lived experience, and resonant with modern audiences. Founded by Forrest Eaglespeaker, a Blackfoot singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, alongside his partner Nevada Freistadt, the band delivers powerful, story-driven songs that explore love, struggle, identity, and resilience. Their lyrics carry the weight of honesty, often drawn from Forrest’s personal journey and heritage as a member of Treaty 7 Territory.

Blending classic country influences with contemporary production and emotional storytelling, The North Sound stands apart from mainstream country by pushing the boundaries of the genre. With four #1 singles on the Indigenous Music Countdown, national airplay, and awards including Sask Music's Indigenous Artist of the Year, the band continues to carve a path that is both deeply personal and widely relatable.

Their latest album, As the Stars Explode, has been praised for its lyrical depth and musical freshness. Whether performing on festival stages across Canada and the U.S. or recording with Nashville-based Indigenous label New Sun Music, The North Sound offers an experience that is as authentic as it is unforgettable. Forrest and Nevada live in Saskatoon with their two children and horse, and remain committed to creating music that uplifts communities and honors story.
