About The Event
The award nominated songwriter who has toured both the country and the world over countless times, often performing hundreds of shows within a year. Lucky “is unapologetically old-school country, armed with a husky, baritone voice. He carries himself like a younger Richard Buckner or a heartier Doug Paisley and receives comparisons to songwriters such as Gordan Lightfoot and Kris Kristofferson. He sings of Canadian places and people as knowingly as he might Townes Van Zandt or the Rio Grande. To date Zachary has released six albums and has been called “an artist to watch” by both the Globe and Mail and NOW Toronto. In fall 2021 Zachary Lucky returns with with “Songs For Hard Times”, a collection of traditional and cowboy songs ranging from the Appalachians to Townes Van Zandt. These are songs that Zachary has been singing for years, in green rooms and on couches after his shows. Songs for Hard Times sees Zachary Lucky at his purest - with his intricate finger picked Martin D18 and baritone voice taking centre stage. “I always wanted to make a solo record - because those are the kind of albums that I’ve found myself drawn to for as long as I can remember” said Lucky. Songs For Hard Times was recorded over two days in the Algonquin Highlands of Ontario with one microphone, one voice and one guitar. Mixed and mastered by Scott Franchuk at Riverdale Recorders in Edmonton Alberta. ”An instant rapport with the audience bolstered by masterful stagecraft, incredibly strong songs, and dynamic and nuanced musicianship. Country music for everyone. I couldn't recommend this show more.” - Matt Large - Hello Darlin' Productions / Folk Fest sur le Canal "There’s such proximity in Everywhere A Man Can Be, the latest from Saskatchewan troubadour Zachary Lucky. Even with it’s fully lush country-folk production, the sound of the record never strays far from Lucky’s breathy baritone, recalling Gordon Lightfoot in his tender phrasing..." - Penguin Eggs ”Zachary Lucky (in my humble opinion) is one if the most beautiful singers, songwriters and musician we have -
minimalism in its purist form.” - Richard Harris, Folk Radio DJ, UK
