Congratulations To The 2020
SaskTel Search For The Stars Winners!
Our fifteen vocalists and four bands put on an amazing show Sunday, January 26th, 2020, and we're so pleased to see young performers impress and entertain an enthusiastic crowd at the EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts!
Tori Korczak, Atlanta Jane, Justine Sletten, Rebecca Strong, Relan Meeks, Jan Nikola Ribagorda, Nicolas Aiken, Levin Winterberger, Rebecca Schutte, Gracie Nelson, Hope Nelson, Mercy Glover, Taya Lebel, Cooper Loshack, Leigha Dunn, bands Method To Madness, Miscellaneous, Rose Petals, and Secure were all in top form for the competition, and the judges had a tough time deciding the winners. But ultimately, these performers impressed the judges and the audience with their talents.
For the award presentations our judges, Gabrielle Giroux and Roland Corrigal, were joined by Jordy Balicki from Reservoir Recording (who donated a credit note for the Singer-Songwriter category) and Saskatchewan MLA Nadine Wilson.
Nicolas is a mostly self-taught musician, and this will be his first public performance! He has a garage band with a few friends, but most people didn’t know he could sing until he auditioned for this show! Nicolas’s other hobbies include water skiing, dirt biking, hunting, and other outdoor activities.
The Rose Petals are enrolled in band lessons from Jam Street Music Sessions, and are made up of five young performers: Rozelyn Barlow, Josie LeCorre, Ava Little, Brynae Quick, and Olivia Schlamp.
Tori has been singing and competing in music festivals since she was four years old. Aside from singing classically, she plays in a band called Blueshift where she sings and plays most instruments. When she’s not singing you can find her on the ice speed skating! Tori enjoys spending time at the lake and travelling with her family.
Secure is a local band made up of four performers: Sadie Schutte, Kennedi Quist, Jaden Schutte, and Levi Quist.
Determination, talent, and drive define singer/songwriter, Justine Sletten. Her debut EP, entitled Groundbreaking was released in July of 2017. Groundbreaking spent three days in the Top 10 Country Albums in Canada on iTunes, reaching as high as # 3. Justine is currently planning for her follow up singles. Justine has been named the winner of the Saskatoon Country Music association youth star search, the Medicine Hat stampede Summer Star, winner of the Deja Vu songwriters competition,& more!
